As you know, I prefer to inject a bit of humor into my posts. I guess its just my own sick form of therapy. But sometimes, it just ain’t fuckin funny.
I went into this post surgery PET scan thinking “hey we just cut out half my liver . . . there should be no cancer action there.” Not so lucky. I had surgery on July 2. Two months later a PET scan shows new tumors essentially growing back faster than we can cut the fuckers out. The radiologist describes it as “worsening metastatic disease.” So, I went through the pure hell of liver resection with no real benefit.
So, its back on the chemo train. Stay tuned my friends.

Friday was my third PET Scan. I am told that if I have a 4th scan I will no longer need those novelty glow-in-the-dark condoms as my penis will glow by itself.
Here is some history for those too lazy to read my prior posts. I had my first PET in Feb. 2009 as I was just beginning chemo. That is when I received the good news that I had metistatic tumors in the liver. After 6 rounds of chemo we did my 2nd PET which showed some shrinkage of the liver tumors, which is good. Thats when they sent me in for a liver resection where they cut out the right lobe including about 60% of my liver. It has been a little taste of hell recovering from that.
So, in theory, if they cut the tumors out of my liver, and prior PETs just showed action in the liver, then this 3rd PET should be clean. Right? Cross your fingers amigos.

I’m sorry my posts have been a little sparse lately. I’m trying to post a little more now that I am feeling a little better. One month after the liver resection I still feel pretty beat up, but feeling better every day. I am back to work full time, but its not like I’m shovelling concrete or anything.
Read on to learn how I lost 50 lbs in 2 weeks doing nothing but taking a piss.
If you read my prior post you had heard that I came out of the hospital with a lot of retained water. For perspective, I weighed in at about 265 on surgery day (yes I’m am somewhat of a fat ass). 2 days after I was out of the hospital I went to a local doctor and weighed in at a hearty 315 lbs. I had never broke 300 my entire life. Through the miracle of lasix I pissed away 50 pounds of water in about 2 weeks. However, my weight loss has now leveled out a little.
My liver hurts so I’m out. To my cancer friends, keep up the fight.
